Upper Cervical Care is a gentle and effective type of chiropractic procedure that focuses on the correction of upper cervical spinal mis-alignments without surgery. The doctors of Marshall Spinal Care utilize this hand alignment procedure to gently correct spinal mis-alignments at the very top of the spine.

The Upper Cervical procedure practiced by the doctors of Marshall Spinal Care places great importance on the correction of the misalignment of your entire spine, skull & pelvis. In so doing, leg-length in-equalities are corrected.

There are six primary areas of focus, regarding taking care of your spinal mis-alignment, to the doctors of Marshall Spinal Care and their patients.

1. Pre (before) x-rays determine the precise mis-alignment of the spine, skull & pelvis.

2. Corrections are all made by hand at the level of the top bone of the spine (the atlas). This realigns the entire spine (neck, mid-back, lower back and hips).

3. For the correction, patients lay on the alignment table on their side with their head completely and comfortably supported.

4. During the correction, patients feel a gentle light touch on the side of the neck just below the tip of the ear.

5. Post (after) x-rays immediately following the initial correction ensure its accuracy and verify the alignment.

6. A fifteen to twenty minute period of rest following the alignment encourages your spine to stabilize in its new (corrected) position.

This Upper Cervical corrective procedure restores your skull (head), spinal column and hips to their proper position. This takes the pressure off the brainstem and causes your body posture to return to a neutral, balanced position. From this position, the malfunctioning body systems stop malfunctioning and the injured ligaments re-knit, recover and heal.

Corrective Upper Cervical Care has its roots in the upper-cervical studies of the late Dr. B.J. Palmer. These studies were performed on adult patients in the Research Clinic of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa beginning in the 1920's. Drs. Grostic & Gregory continued clinical research in the early 1960's. To this day, The Upper Cervical Spine is continually being researched & coreective procedures are being developed which acheive a more effective and complete spinal correction.

Beginning in 1996, Drs. Ray & Mary were led to further refine the existing procedures to assist in taking care of the children and elderly patients who were in their practice. Through clinical research and application, the Upper Cervical Corrective Procedure is now being utilized for not only for adult patients, but also provides spinal care throughout a person's lifetime.
